Leaves look a little droopy from the afternoon sun but will perk up in the morning.

In past years, tilling and laying heavy duty cardboard did little to keep the Johnson grass from staking claim to my garden. This year, we invested in heavy duty landscape fabric and pea gravel. I have a combination of raised beds and in ground plots. So far, the garden is looking decent and while it is not weed free, it is more manageable.

We finally had decent rain last week. Tomatoes are budding, squash leaves are covering yellow beauties, and pepper, cucumber and pea plants are growing. We have already enjoyed turnip greens and I even have a few green blueberries on one of the bushes I planted this spring.

My basil looks great. Will need to make pesto soon.
