I am sitting out in the pasture, taking some time to appreciate what I have before my travels take a me back to Dillingham, Alaska for the next two weeks. Just watching the sheep, brings a sense of peace and serenity.

In a little while, Jim Bob will drive me to the airport after a brief stop to hug my bonus kids. It is a beautiful day in Texas with a slight breeze and the sun shining. Alaska has been in single digits and colder lately. Dillingham is expecting a winter storm today and tomorrow so I may be stuck in Anchorage for a day or two. The weather shift is not for the faint of heart but I am used to it and actually look forward to seeing snow again.

Tonight I get to spend the night at SeaTac airport before my morning flight to Anchorage. I am not looking forward to that experience.

Honey taking a break from playing to watch Astro eat.

For the past couple of days I have dreaded the trip. This morning I am more at peace and ready. I look forward to seeing friends again, working with the principal to finalize the schedule for this semester, and of course, helping the students in person with whatever they need.

Seeing the dogs run and play, the llamas hanging with their charges, watching the sheep graze, and baby Astro yanking on his momma’s teat is what life on Webb Acres is all about.

I am fully aware of how lucky I am to have a husband who supports me and my sometimes crazy ideas. I am also grateful to work for a school district that is allowing me to mostly work from home and welcomes me when I come to town.

As I prepare for the hurry up and wait that comes with traveling I have today’s sights and sounds to keep me comforted.
